Hafslund chooses Tieto to deliver the next generation billing system
Tieto Corporation PRESS RELEASE 28 October 2010 at 1.00 pm EET
Hafslund ASA, one of the leading Nordic energy companies, has signed a Letter of Intent with Tieto Norway AS to purchase a new billing system. The system is designed to handle the next generation advanced meter and control systems (AMS) which all energy companies in Norway will be required to implement. The billing system is also ready for a future integrated Nordic energy consumer market.
- Hafslund is a large energy company with growth ambitions in the Nordic energy market. We have conducted a demanding and thorough evaluation process before renewal of our billing and work-order system. We are delighted with the choice of Tieto and their billing system. Our requirements for functionality, performance and delivery capability have been high, and with Tieto we have found a supplier that can provide tools that meet these demands. The implementation will be a substantial project for Hafslund and we are confident that we, in cooperation with Tieto, will be able to meet the challenge, says Thore Sveen, Head of Hafslund Fakturaservice.
Scalable and flexible system
The Letter of Intent includes solutions for invoicing-, customer-, debt collection management and work order management. The billing system is scalable and has a flexible system architecture that supports Hafslund Fakturaservice´s multicompany structure in relation to both present needs and a future integrated Nordic energy consumer market.
- Tieto has substantial experience and competence from similar projects in other Nordic countries where AMS systems have been introduced. We are proud that Hafslund has chosen Tieto in this demanding area. The energy sector is one of the areas where we have proven excellence over many years and this deal gives us a great opportunity to define this industry our way, says Country Manager of Tieto Norway, Kolbjørn Haarr.
- Hafslund has conducted a very thorough evaluation process. Hafslund's choice of Tieto confirms that our billing system portfolio is modern and adaptable to future requirements, and that we have the right competencies. Through a targeted business commitment we have managed to position ourselves as the key supplier of systems for the energy sector, says Kåre Lunde, Head of Energy in Tieto Norway.
Prepared for future demands
Tieto has experience from other Nordic countries concerning the future introduction of AMS. Implementation of AMS will require systems that are scalable in order to handle substantially larger amounts of data than today, and will also demand a higher degree of flexibility concerning performance and new services.
